Blessing Hospice & Palliative Care Director attends national meeting

Jeri Conboy, PhD, LCSW, director, Blessing Hospice & Palliative Care/Blessing Hospice-Hancock County, participated in a two-day course on the new Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation in Baltimore, MD. This is the first time that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), has significantly revised the Conditions of Participation since they were created in 1983.

The two-day course, organized by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), brought together more than 300 hospice leaders, representing 46 states.

Dr. Conboy has been training other hospice providers throughout Illinois on the new Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation since returning from Baltimore.

Dr. Conboy serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Hospice & Palliative Care Organization, on its Executive committee as Past Chair, and is co-chair of the Regulatory Committee.

Blessing Hospice & Palliative Care celebrates 25 years of service during 2008, providing end-of-life medical, social and spiritual care to terminally ill patients and their families in their homes or in contracted nursing homes. Blessing Hospice & Palliative Care serves 13 west central Illinois and northeast Missouri counties, and portions of four others.
