Members of the Clark County Wellness Coalition met this month to finalize plans for the 8th annual summer heart health walk.
he event, scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2008 will be held in the O-Mak-O-Hak Park during the hours of 4-6p.m.
Many activities for all ages will be taking place for this “Family Fun in the Park” day. Walkers will be able to walk the paved trail at their leisure, and participate in the straw walk. Everyone ages 13 and up for each lap walked around the trail, they will be eligible to have their name in a drawing for various prizes. Everyone 12 and under will receive one prize for walking a lap around the trail.
Other free activities for the younger set, will include a rock climbing wall provided by the Iowa Army National Guard, train rides and bounce bubble provided by Boyd and Patty Woods. There will be a free throw contest, volleyball, tennis and a skateboarding exhibit.
Free walking tacos and bottled water will be provided through a Clark/Scotland Heart Smart Grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health.
Members of the Wellness Coalition put together this annual event. The Wellness Coalition represents the Clark County Health Department, University of Missouri Extension, school administration and nurses, local physicians, Family Services, Ministerial Alliance, CARE, City of Kahoka, and local volunteers. The mission of the Coalition is to improve nutrition and physical activity access and habits throughout Clark County.
Coalition members and Health Department staff will be on hand to greet you, assist with registration, activities, and serve tacos.
