Elmer L. Albertson, 83, of Quincy, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday (June 15, 2008) in Blessing Hospital.
Born February 15, 1925 in Edina, Missouri, Elmer was the son of George and Mary Keith Albertson. He married Elizabeth King on September 14, 1949 in Shelbina, Missouri. She survives.
Elmer enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. Mr. Albertson served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Elmer was a self employed carpenter and ceramic tile layer for 27 years until his retirement in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two sons, Steven L. Albertson and Karl E. Albertson and his wife Penny both of Quincy: two daughters Angela Ruth Brown and her husband Don of Quincy and Cheri Elaine Creed and her husband Ted of Columbus, Illinois; seven grandchildren Richard Brown and his wife Brenda of Quincy, William Brown and his wife Yvonne of Quincy, Michael Creed and his wife Denise of Salem, Missouri, Amy Albertson of Quincy, Megan Thomas and her husband Tony of Quincy, Jason Albertson and his wife Jaime of Quincy and Joshua Albertson and his wife Rachel of Mansfield, Texas; 11 great grandchildren and one sister Clara McKay of Quincy.
Mr. Albertson was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Francis Keith.
Graveside services with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum by the Rev. George Tomko.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 until 1:15 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veteran’s Home Activity Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
