WANDA M. BAKER
Wanda Mae Baker, age 76, of Baring, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
She was born June 7, 1931, at Salem, Missouri, the daughter of Jess Elmer and Virginia Mae Edwards Medley.
On March 4, 1947, at Salem, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Lenard Franklin Baker and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and five sisters, Hazel Hamlin, Mazel Stagner, Rosealla Martin, Ruby Payne and Mary Gresham and three brothers, Elmer Medley, Bill Medley and Arnold Medley.
Surviving are five children- Geneva Mae Baker and Janice Marie Baker of Baring, Missouri; Dennis Arnold Baker of Knox City, Missouri; Michael Leonard Baker and Rebecca Lynn Baker of Kirksville, Missouri; two grandchildren- Shannon Elaine Baker and Zachary Michael Baker of Kirksville, Missouri; and one great grandchild- Nathaniel Scott Sizemore of Kirksville, Missouri, and her companion Randall Cary of Baring, Missouri.
Wanda was raised at Salem, Missouri, where she received her education. She was a Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Med Tech at several locations including Blessing Hospital, Kirksville Manor Care, LaBelle Manor, Gipson Hospital in Edina, Schuyler County Nursing Home and Adair County Nursing Home.
In her earlier years she and her sisters had a gospel group called the Malones, and performed through out Missouri at churches and revivals. She enjoyed playing bingo, and visiting with friends and family. The past ten years she has resided in Baring, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. The Reverend Robert Stephens served as officiate for the services. Burial was in the Knox City Cemetery.
