ALPHA DENNIS TRIPP
Alpha Dennis Tripp, 78 of Volin, South Dakota, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Wakonda Heritage Manor.
Dennis was born August 30, 1929 in Rutledge, Missouri to James and Florence Parrish Tripp. He grew up and attended school in Anyok, MO.
He married Twila Kathleen Chancellor on October 29, 1950 in Memphis, MO.
He served during the Korean War with the United States Marine Corps from March 26, 1952 to March 26, 1960.
Following the war, Dennis and Kathleen lived in Missouri, and in 1964 they moved to Vermillion, SD. They also lived in Gayville, and Volin, SD, where they had resided for the past 37 years.
Dennis worked for the Clay County Highway Department for many years.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, watching baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife Kathleen; four sons- Wes and wife June Tripp of Gayville, SD, Alvin and wife Martha Tripp of Utica, SD, Tim and wife Kim Tripp of Hartford, SD, and Scott Tripp of Volin, SD; four daughters- Pam and husband Rex Bye of Gayville, SD, Tammie and husband Doug Ruffle of Toms River, Jew Jersey, Janet and husband Darrell Haas of Volin, SD and Crystal Henrichs of Columbus, Nebraska; also sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters – Verda Grabowski of Elgin, Illinois, and Vada Small of Rutledge, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Denver Tripp, and one sister Vida Edwards.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Gayville-Volin United Methodist Church in Gayville, SD. Burial followed in the Volin Cemetery, rural Volin, SD.
