Elizabeth Faye “Libby” Shubert, 68, of Edina, Missouri, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Libby was born on January 8, 1940, in rural northeast Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Ernest and Rachael Smith Goodwin.
She attended Rutledge Elementary School before graduating from the Baring High School in Baring, Missouri. Libby moved with her parents to Quincy, Illinois before returning to Edina, Missouri.
On February 9, 1957, in Edina, Missouri, Libby married Billy Calvin Shubert and they made their home in Edina, Missouri. They purchased a home on North Fourth Street in 1961 where they raised their family.
Libby enjoyed cooking and had worked at several local establishments, through out the years, Arrow Head Café, the Sale Barn Café, Caseys, and the Knox County Nutrition Site. Her love was her family, especially her grandchildren and the time she could spend with them and was very proud of her first great granddaughter.
Libby is survived by her husband Bill Shubert of Edina, Missouri; two sons, Jimmy Shubert of Edina, Missouri and Randy and his wife Pam Shubert of Maywood, Missouri; a daughter, Sharon Shubert of Edina, Missouri; a brother, Kent and his wife Jesse Goodwin of Miami, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Brandon Shubert of Kirksville, Missouri, Jordan Shubert of Columbia, Missouri and Caleb Shubert of Edina, Missouri; a great granddaughter, Olivia Shubert of Columbia, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Gail Dixon of Edina, Missouri; three brothers-in-law, Victor Shubert of Hannibal, Missouri, Jerry Shubert of Taylor, Missouri and Francis Shubert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four sisters-in-law, Mary and her husband Lawrence Schroeder of Edina, Missouri, Irene and her husband Dale Nichols of Edina, Missouri, Janice and her husband Kim Smith of Edina, Missouri and Janie and her husband Lanny Bowen of Kirksville, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Libby was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene Shubert; four brothers, Bill, Raymond, Bob and Richard Goodwin; four sisters, Margaret Douglas-Edwards, Floy Arehart-Dixson, Rose Mary Riley-Dixson and Eva Pinson; and a brother-in-law, James Ray Shubert.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Burial was in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
Reverend Ray Peters officiated and music was provided by Nancy Reardon and Brent Karhoff. Casket Bearers were Don Woodward, Ron Stansberry, Russell Phillips, Brent Karhoff, Wendell Kurtz and Kim Smith, along with Honorary Bearers, Jeanne Perrigo, Ilene Perrigo, Reta Glasgow, Donna Jones, Mary Bishop, Harry Oldfather, Dr. T.D. O’Brien and Leslie Karhoff.
