Betty Joe Parrish, age 82, of Knox City, Missouri, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, in St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born May 19, 1925 in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Cleveland and Maude Ellen Cheatum Raymer.
On May 29, 1943, she was united in marriage to Howard Rufus Parrish and he preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Charles and George Raymer, two sisters, Margaret Jean Smith and Doris Elizabeth Pruett and two grandsons, John Brian Parrish and Adam Parrish, three granddaughters, Lisa Parrish Jernigan, Ronda Parrish and Susan Parrish.
Surviving are three children, Thomas F. Parrish and wife Carol of Warrenton, Missouri, James L. Parrish and wife Linda of Unionville, Missouri, one daughter, Marsha Burton and husband Paul of Knox City, Missouri, two sisters, Dorothy Ann Wheeler of Edina, Missouri and Mildred Pyles of Licking, Missouri, five grandchildren, Andy Parrish and wife Lori, Diane Leck, Joshua Parrish and wife Liz, Philip Parrish, and Andrea Botkins and husband Chris, two step grandchildren, Randy Ballanger and wife Angie and Karrie Toohill and husband Steve, five great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Parrish was raised in Knox County where she received her education at the Edina Public School. She was employed with Burnham Manufacturing in Edina for over thirty years till her retirement. She enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, her animals and spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was going to the Clothes Closet and giving the workers there a hard time.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. The Reverend Mike Rash will officiate the services.
Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery at Knox City, Missouri. Music will be provided by Paul Burton, Alberta Burton and Joy Akin.
Casket bearers will be Russell Otte, Larry Hubble, Henry Roush, Kenny Edwards, David McCabe and Todd Goodwin.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 1, 2008, after 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, Missouri.
