VIRGIL LAVERNE SEYDELL
Virgil Laverne Seydell, age 82, of LaBelle, Missouri, died Thursday, February 7, 2008, in the Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, Missouri.
He was born January 27, 1926, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Isaac Eli and Sylvia Jeanette Howell Seydell.
Mr. Seydell served his country with the US Army Merchant Marines during World War II and with the US Coast Guard during the Gulf War. He had worked as an engineer on ships and also engine fireman and engineer on the railroad. A Protestant, he faithfully attended the First Baptist Church of LaBelle.
He is survived by one sister, Ruby Cunningham and husband Raymond of Columbus Junction, Iowa, and one brother Wendell Wayne Seydell of West Des Moines, Iowa, several nieces and nephews, and special friends the David and Mary Starr family of LaBelle, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothee Parsons.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Rev. Doug Mahsman led the service, with burial in the Knox City, MO, Cemetery.
