OES 100th Anniversary Celebration A Success

"Wednesday evening was an excellent celebration our Chapter’s 100th year.  We had a great celebration and the food was excellent.  I look forward to the year as we continue to support many worthwhile needs in our community and across the state,” said Shawn McAfee, Secretary of the Order of the Eastern Star Kahoka Chapter #40.
The organization celebrated its 100th anniversary last Wednesday at the Masonic Hall in Wayland, exactly 100 years afters its first meeting, January 8, 1908.
One hundred forty two members and guests from across Missouri attended the celebration, including Missouri’s Worthy Grand Matron  Brenda Austin and Worthy Grand Patron  John Chaney, as well as almost all state officers.  Austin and Chaney received honorary memberships in the chapter.
Chapter Worthy Matron Erma Dee Jones and Worthy Patron Bill Jones were presented with a Missouri Senate resolution honoring the chapter’s 100 years.  Grand Representative of Ontario in Missouri, Delma Smith, made the presentation.
Joanne Ragan served as the event chairperson.
