Pearl May McVeigh, 78, of Canton, MO, formerly of Keokuk, IA died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at her home.
She was born on September 5, 1929 in Ottumwa, IA the daughter of Jessie and Geneva Cotton McGee. On May 29, 1948, Pearl was united in marriage to Lewis E. McVeigh. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1987.
Pearl worked as a Nurse’s Aid at the Keokuk hospitals for 40 years before retiring in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Lewis “Eddie” McVeigh and his wife Debbie and Kenneth McVeigh, six daughters, Mary Alvis and her husband Craig Self, Patty Schreck, Emma Harris, Lydia McVeigh and her partner Sharon Schevers, Barbara Dresser and her husband Jeff and Angela McVeigh, three brothers, Clinton McGee and his wife Ruth, Jerry McGee and his wife Esther and Jackie McGee and his wife Mary, her favorite sister Emma Golliher, two sisters-in-law, Mildred McGee and Rosalie Hobbs, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jessie McGee, Jr. and Charles McGee and two sisters, Mary McGee and Jennie Rose McGee.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Richard Burrell officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held from 11 – 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends at that time.
