Wendel L. Wheeler

    Wendel Lee Wheeler, owner and operator of Wheeler Plumbing Company of Newark, Missouri, died at the age of 76 in his home Wednesday, August 29, 2007.

   He was born May 16, 1931 in Stoddard County, Missouri; he was the son of Hansel and Marie Condict Wheeler.

   Wendel attended school in St. Louis, Missouri and married Thelma Mae Broeker on August 6, 1949.  He began Wheeler Plumbing Company in 1961, and was an active member of the Newark Baptist Church, the United Brotherhood of Pipe Fitters, a licensed Wastewater Installer for the Missouri Department of Health, HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning), and a licensed plumber for the state of Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois.

   He is survived by his wife Thelma; three sons, William of St. Louis, Missouri, Lindel and Stephanie of New Meadows, Idaho, and Warner (Yogi) of Newark, Missouri; four daughters, Susan and Stanley Shelton of Lexington, Illinois, Nancy and John Ernst of Normal, Illinois, Karen and Randy Scoggin of LaBelle, Missouri and Cathy and Lee Howe of LaBelle, Missouri.

   Grandchildren include:  Stacey, Seth, Samey Shelton; Adam Simmons; Christine, Kayla, and Kyle Wheeler; Gabriel, Jameson, Isaac, and Alexander Scoggin; Corey, Oliver, and Casey Wheeler and five great-grandchildren.

   Also surviving are his two sisters:  Dorothy and Maurice Tonnies of LaGrange, Missouri and Sandra Jean and Randy Miles of LaGrange, Missouri.

   Wendel was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glendel Wheeler.

   Funeral services were Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri with Reverend Tim Stevens officiating.  Burial was in the Newark Cemetery.
