Novinger Resident Arrested On Drug Charges

On August 30, 2007, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva on Missouri Route 6, east of Route P, in Sullivan County.  After speaking with the driver, the trooper asked and obtained consent to search the vehicle, which revealed four morphine tablets.
The driver, Sara M. Risher, 27, of Novinger, Missouri, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance (morphine), and for failure to wear a seat belt.  Risher was taken to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and she was later released.
The charges for which Risher was arrested are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt.  Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is determine guilt or innocence.
