Lady Indian Bats Come Alive

The Clark County Lady Indians brought their bats to the Tuesday, August 28 home matchup against Monroe City.  The Lady Indians picked up 10 hits in the 9-3 victory over the Lady Panthers.
Clark County scored three runs on four first-inning hits to jump ahead early, and never looked back.
Monroe City took the first inning lead as Brittany Greeves reached base on an error, then scored on a Brittany Albus single.
After Emily Stewart popped out to left field, sophomore Cady Flood, got things going for the Lady Indians with single to right field.  Flood scored as shortstop Kassidy Shuman slugged a line drive triple to left center.  Brenna Buford drove Shuman in with a single to left field.  Brooke Wheeler popped up to second base before designated hitter Brianna Alderton ripped a triple to left to drive in Buford.
In the fourth inning, Alderton was hit by a pitch and walked to first, then stole second.  She scored on a Caitlyn Davis single.  Davis stole second, then third, scoring while Stewart reached first on an error.
Greeves added a second Monroe City run in the top of the fifth after reaching base on a fielders choice.  Back to back singles by Katie Sandifer and Jordan Hawker  allowed Greeves to score, but the Lady Panthers stranded two runners.
Shuman scored the only Indian run of the fifth inning.  After reaching base on a single.  She then demonstrated her speed, stealing second, then third before scoring on a wild pitch to take a 6-2 lead.
The Lady Indians added three more in the sixth.  Danni Dochterman came off the bench to hit a single.  Stewart added another single to score Dochterman.  Flood was walked, then scored on Shuman’s single.
Shelby Franklin scored Monroe City’s final run after reaching base on an error.  Sandifer slapped a double, and Britni Bertelli’s powerful throw home from center field  was just barely too late to prevent the run from scoring.
Kassidy Shuman lead all batters with a 3-4 performance, including 2 RBI’s.
