CCR-1 Rolls Out District Website
By Mike Scott
Clark County R-1 school district continues to improve its use of technology, and the district’s new website is just another example.
“I think it will make it easier for parents to access information,” said Ritchie Kracht, CCR-1 Superintendent.
Information on the site includes class and activity schedules, a place “special announcements” such as school closings or early dismissal, and email links to staff members, so parents have additional access to their student’s teachers.
“Almost all the teachers have computer access, most with laptops, and we’ve been doing a lot of technology training. The majority (of teachers) are pretty good with it now,” Kracht added
The site is still growing, and eventually, parents will be able to access their student’s grade, attendance and lunch money accounts.
A side benefit for the district will be its use as a tool in recruiting new staff. Prospective teachers will be able to access information about the school online, and find out more about the district before they come to an interview.
The site was created by the Web Development class at the high school. Webmaster Sherry Evans and last 2007 graduates Dasan Justice and Jerrod Kauffman put in hours of work entering information on the site prior to its debut.
Class Instructor Sherry Evans stated, “The students worked very hard on the project. The website should be of real value to the district as it is updated daily with bulletin available for the next day. Plans for upgrading will include Middle School and Elementary School links.”
