Lady Eagles Roar Back For First Win

   Brittany Miller struck out 17 Atlanta batters and Hannah Dale hit a two run homer leading Knox County (1-1) to a 6-0 victory at Atlanta. The August 21 contest saw the Lady Eagles rap out nine hits on the night.

   “We came out with a new attitude,” said Lady Eagle coach Stephanie Crawford. “I think the little chat we had after the Canton game paid off. We came out with fire under us. Brittany (Miller) hit her spots. She didn’t hit her spots and walked seven batters at Canton.”

   Samantha Halley walked leading off the Lady Hornet second inning.  Five of the first six Atlanta outs were via the strikeout. Brittany Miller fanned the side in the third inning.

   Atlanta pitcher Samantha Halley pitched around a Brittany Miller hit leading off the second inning along with Amanda Woods’ hit in the Lady Eagle third inning. The game was scoreless through three innings.

   Myra Parrish led off the fourth inning and reached base on an outfield error. Freshman Hannah Dale belted a two run homer, putting the visiting Lady Eagles on top by a pair of runs after four innings.

   Lorrie Peters led off the KCHS fifth inning with a base hit. Chelsea Bisch followed with a one out hit. Amanda Woods pushed both runners across the plate for a 4-0 Knox County lead after five innings. Brittany Miller had two more strikeouts in the fifth inning and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

   Holly Kite and Lorrie Peters had Knox County nits in the fifth inning, but Atlanta’s defense held the Lady Eagles off the board. Brittany Miller rang up another Lady Hornet for the first out of the sixth inning.

   Sara Watson sent an 0-1 pitch for Atlanta’s first hit with one down in the sixth. Jenny Howe followed with another Lady Hornet hit. Atlanta executed a double steal putting runners on second and third base with one down.

   Brittany Miller fanned the Lady Hornet’s third and fourth place batters preserving the shutout and the four run KC lead. Hannah Dale earned her third RBI of the game plating Myra Parrish with a hit in the KCHS seventh inning. Brittany Miller forced an error, running Hannah Dale in for the sixth Knox County tally.

   Brittany Miller pitched around a one out error in the Lady Hornet seventh inning. Miller fanned the last two batters nailing down the 6-0 victory. Atlanta was blanked on two hits and five unofficial errors. Knox County scored six times on nine hits and one error. Hannah Dale was 2-4 with a home run, three RBI’s and a pair of runs scored.

    Myra Parrish had two hits and scored twice. Lorrie Peters had two hits and a Knox County run scored.
