ONE QUESTION NOT ANSWERED BY THE CO2/GREENHOUSE GAS/GLOBAL WARMING THEORY
Conducting interviews on Al Gores Global Warming Theory is the founder of Environmentalmaniac.com, Chris Slotten.
Chris asks the question: Is anyone besides me tired of having Al Gore telling us to conserve when he consumes at a rate unimaginable to most of us?
Well Al, Chris says!
In 1972, when Greenhouse Gas/Global Cooling was the theory, I built a car to meet 1986 air pollution requirements.
In 1994, before Global Warming, I created the best multi-family recycling program in California. It was a business decision. I was the maintenance man for 241 condos and it made good business sense that if I diverted 50% of the garbage through recycling, I'd save 50% on the garbage bill. Recycling enough cardboard and newspaper to save 50,000 trees was a side effect.
In June 2007, I cut my air conditioning demand by 30% by adding radiant barrier products to my home. It looks like I will get a 20-30% return-on-investment. If I help a few million other homeowners do the same, the Country saves One Quadrillion BTUs of energy a year.
That's the equivalent of 17,000,000 barrels of oil. And if I give 51% of the profits to college engineering programs, I complete the circle. I don't have a degree in science. Nor does Mr. Honda, Mr. Hyundai, Mr. Sony and Mr. Gates. I understand science. I don't care if you have a PHD in Aviation; I'm not going flying with you until you've logged a bunch of hours.
Here's a question not answered by the Theory, "Why are the polar ice caps melting where the Greenhouse Gasses are the thinnest during summer and can't be distinguished during winter?
Take your time getting back to me Al. I'm not worried about Global Warming. The Earth is well within its standard deviation. Take a deep breath.
During the Medieval Warm Period, 900 years ago, Greenland was green; vineyards grew north of London and all of Europe Flourished. During the Mini Ice Age, 1300-1600 A.D., things were nasty. Glaciers wiped out entire villages. Starvation was rampant. Most of us remember the picture of George Washington crossing a frozen Potomac River less than 300 years ago.
There is no scientific trending in temperature of radiant energy in Phoenix and Miami over the last 8 years. I looked. Atlas-MTS, "A Global leader in Weathering Testing & Equipment" has provided daily temperature and radiant energy readings since 2000 for Phoenix and Miami on their website. I was looking for increased radiation and temperature because of the One Quadrillion BTU Project. I found neither, only a temperature deviation of 1 degree Celsius.
The current CO2/Global Warming Theory is only applicable for the last 30 years. The 30 years prior, C02/Global Cooling was the scare. For the thousands of years before that, CO2 has been an indicator of Global Warming, not the cause.
Some of us are tired of the "ruling class" telling us what to do when they won't do it themselves. Don't tell us, show us. Talk is cheep.
About Chris Slotten:
Chris Slotten is the Environmental Maniac and in 1972 while a senior
at U.C. Irvine, when Greenhouse Gas/Global Cooling was the theory.
Chris built a car to meet 1986 air pollution requirements.
In 1994 he created the best multi-family recycling program in
California and earned the label "Recycling Maniac" from a Waste
Management spokeswoman. Chris was the maintenance man for 241 condos.
It made good business sense that if he diverted 50% of the garbage
through recycling, the complex would save 50% on their garbage bill.
That was a $25,000 a year savings. Recycling enough cardboard and
newspaper to save 50,000 trees was a side effect.
Last month Chris reduced his air conditioning demand by 30%, yielding
a return-on-investment of 20-30%, by applying radiant barrier products
to his house. (That’s a big number in Phoenix). If he helps a few
million other homeowners save 20-40%, the country saves One
Quadrillion BTUs of energy. (That’s the equivalent of 17,000,000
barrels of oil).
Yes, Chris does have solar-powered misters on his truck and a radiant
barrier panel over the cab.
Yes, Chris has a "dual-pump", 5 stages, 250 PSI, remote controlled,
950,000 BTU backyard cooling system at his house.
